As I wrote to you earlier this month, starting on Sunday, January 6, 2019, we will have one worship service in place of our current two services. We are calling this new service Oasis because our vision is for it to be a place of refreshment for weary spiritual travelers from every corner of our dusty world. That means that worship at Spirit of Grace will be at 10:03am weekly.
The vision for Oasis is “to craft an ‘ancient-future’ and intentionally multigenerational service which blends the best of ancient worship tradition and liturgy with modern and contextual music and worship resources.”
We are excited to share a draft of the January 6th service and give you an opportunity to weigh in with your comments, suggestions, and concerns in advance of the launch of Oasis. You’ll find that draft attached to this email. Please feel free to reply to this message with your feedback.
There will also be an opportunity to discuss details around this service in person this Sunday, December 30, 2018. Remember that, as has been our custom for the Sunday following Christmas for several years, we will have just one service this Sunday. To avoid confusion, this service will be at the new worship time of 10:03am. Following this Sunday’s service, our worship staff (Mary Hock and Calena Ohlson) and I will host a short meeting for those interested in asking questions about the new format.
Thank you for your gracious reception of this exciting new vision for our worship life together. Please don’t hesitate to call or text me (308-999-9027) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your thoughts at any time.
